NEURO-AFFIRMING EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT

Student Paper Writing
ABOUT

Our Neuroaffirming Educational Support Program provides individualised, strengths-based learning support for children and young people.
Delivered by a qualified teacher, sessions are tailored to each young person’s unique learning profile, strengths and needs. The focus goes beyond academic performance to build confidence, practical learning skills and a greater understanding of how they learn best.

Every child or young person learns differently. This means that support needs to be tailored to the individual.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

Before we start support sessions, we gather background information to help us us gain an understanding of child's current learning, classroom strengths, areas of challenge and any school-based goals.

We also include one parent and one child session in our intake process. During these sessions we set out to understand:

  • the learner's interests and strengths

  • learning challenges

  • sensory preferences and supports

  • confidence with learning

  • how they respond to mistakes

  • what helps them feel safe, engaged and successful

Most importantly, we prioritize building rapport and helping the learner feel comfortable. Afterwards, we will provide you with an Educational Support Plan which will guide our ongoing support

ONGOING SUPPORT

We schedule all our educational support sessions per term, allowing consistent support and steady progress. This includes 10 weekly tutoring sessions and one parent progress session during the school holidays.

At the end of the term, we schedule a 30-min parent session to discuss progress, achievements, and ongoing challenges.

Our aim is to work collaboratively with families and schools to create practical, achievable strategies that help children feel more confident, capable and successful in their learning.
