Cass McGilvray
Educational Tutor & Coach
BEd
I studied a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) at the University of Canberra.
Upon graduating from University, I worked for a non-for-profit organization in Madagascar. I have since had the opportunity to work as a relief teacher at many schools across Canberra and have gained a broad perspective of educational systems.
I have taught on lower-primary classes, on a preschool class, supported the safe-school program during COVID-19, and have worked as a tutor facilitating individualized learning.
It is through these experiences that I have developed a passion and interest for working with children 1:1 and in small groups. I particularly enjoy working with neurodiverse learners.
Throughout my career, I have seen that when children feel safe, heard and empowered, learning experiences can be joyful and meaningful. I enjoy finding ways to honor each child’s unique way of thinking, learning and communicating. I love that ‘aha!’ moment of ‘I can actually do this!’ or ‘This is actually fun!’. Or ‘Hey, look what I did!’ I care about approaching teaching in ways that are personalized and respectful.
